I feel as though the Marauder owes its existance to this car and its popularity in the last decade.

I loved that model. RWD, big 350 Vortec V8... AND it looked like either a grandpa's car or a police cruiser. Back in the day, it was a sleeper if you knew what to do under the hood.

I love them both. If you gave me an opportunity to own one or the other, all things equal, my head might assplode.

I love Impala SS's. I think Tim Allen has a hot rod one with a 6spd.

CORRECTION: It had a performance auto

It's an LT1, not a Vortec.

LT1 > Vortec

You have it the other way around...

There is only one thing that nearly comes close to an Impala SS, and it is a Marauder. :D

Hello? Hello? Can you hear me from back in 1963?

Kinja'd!!!

You are right though Ford produced the first concept marauder back in 1998, which looked like a crown vic with a mercury badge on it.

I'd go for a '96. Analog gauges (as opposed to stupid digi-cluster) and a console shifter (hate column shifters).

Can't deny this. Longstanding history aside, I think product planners looked at the early ninties Impala SS and said we can cash in on this with the outgoing Panther, which had yet to have a civillian hotrod version (not a P71)

Had a 96 for almost 9 years. I bought it after college. I LOVED that car as much as you can actually love a car. I was even active in a local B and D body club. Those LT1 engines are great. Easily capable of 200k+. Everything else around the engine was suspect though.

Gimmie gimmie gimmie gimmie. The purple was the best colour. A friend of a guy up my street had one in the late 90`s. It was badass.

These were the best cars for a LT1 had space to work on them unlike the corvette and camaro. They only downside was the cast iron heads but its easy to find a set of pull offs from a camaro or corvette(they are aluminum). The 96 was the best year because they had bucket seats and a floor shift

You're right. I'm dumb. I had a 350 Vortec in my '96 Chevy. Got the two engines confused.

1992 had the P75, which was the "touring sedan". If you ever want to lay claim to a "performance" crown victoria, this is it. 1992 only, full HPP suspension, dual exhaust, its own custom interior bits, these are rare cars. This is also the only car to ever have the "P75" model designation.

Obviously it can't hold a candle to the marauder or the impala SS but its a neat piece of history. I've never seen one in person.

They are not very well known, I've seen maybe 2-3 for sale online and they were all piles. Funny enough, when I do see them for sale, the owners usually do know its a touring sedan.

Wow. After reading that whole page, I want the P75 more than a 'common' SS or Marauder. That thing is tits. Everything about it.
